 Frederick T. Varcoe, Jr. is a graduate of
Millsaps College (B.S.), University of Florida (Ph.D.,
Analytical Chemistry), Colorado State University
(Post-Doctoral Fellow, Atomic Spectroscopy), and The
University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (J.D.). Dr. Varcoe had an extensive professional career as a
scientist before entering law school, including
positions as Study Director for Triangle Laboratories,
Inc.; analytical chemist with The National Institute of
Environmental Health Sciences; and Senior Scientist with
Northrop Services, Inc. Following law school, Dr. Varcoe
was employed as a Patent Attorney in Washington, D.C.
and as an Examiner with the United States Patent Office
before moving to North Carolina. He has been awarded,
among other things, first prize in The University of
North Carolina Nathan Burkan ASCAP competition. Dr.
Varcoe is licensed to practice law in North Carolina and
in the District of Columbia, and is registered to
practice before the United States Patent and Trademark
Office.
